Deutsch: Es erstaunte mich sehr, dass die Geburt des Eisbärenmädchens im Nürnberger Tiergarten von den Medien so hochgejubelt wurde. Jede Bewegung des kleinen Eisbären wurde ausgiebig bewundert, fast täglich wurde in verschiedenen Zeitungen darüber berichtet. Fast zur gleichen Zeit kam in Wien ein kleiner Pandabär zur Welt. Ein Panda, es ist eine absolute Seltenheit, dass ein Panda in Gefangenschaft geboren wird. Pandas sind schon lange vor den Eisbären vom Aussterben bedroht, sie haben nicht mehr genug Nahrung. Die Geburt des Pandas war den Medien nur eine kleine Notiz wert.

Deutsch: Deshalb habe ich dieses Bild gemalt, um die Menschen daran zu erinnern, dass ein friedvolles Miteinander möglich ist. Dass die Pandabären, diese absolut friedlichen Pflanzenfresser, die niemandem etwas wegnehmen, nicht dazu verurteilt sein müssen, nach Millionen Jahren der Evolution, auszusterben.
Es ist nicht mehr möglich, die Klimaveränderung aufzuhalten. Aber es ist möglich, das Abholzen zu stoppen, die Bergwälder zu erhalten, den Pandas ihren Lebensraum zu lassen.
