Deutsch - Vor vielen Jahren besuchte ich in Ägypten. Die Pyramiden haben mich sehr beeindruckt. Ich habe versucht, die vielen Händler, Kameltreiber und Touristen auszublenden und die Pyramiden so zu sehen, wie sie vor Jahrhunderten waren; einsam in der Wüste stehende Monumente, in einer Landschaft aus Sand und von einer heissen, intensiven Sonne beschienen, halb vom Sand begraben. Der Grund warun ich Pyramiden als Hintergrund gewählte.

Deutsch - Eines der Hobbies meines Sohnes ist das basteln, bemalen und spielen von Fantasyfiguren. Es sind Zinnfiguren nach dem Prinzip der früheren Zinnsoldaten, nur alle aus dem Reich der Fantasie. Es gibt Zwergenarmeen, Chaos, Vampire und Waldelfen sowie Dunkelelfen. Die Elfenarmeen haben mich zu meinem ersten Bild, der Dunkelelfe, angeregt. Sie schreitet durch die Wüste, die Arme mit dem Speer gekreuzt, auf dem Weg zu einem Kampf. Heiß brennt die Sonne, der Wüstenwind zaust ihre Haare. Ihre Gefährten, die kleineren Helferelfen, begleiten sie, die Waffen gezückt, bereit zum Einsatz. Sie sind Geistwesen gleich, fast Schatten, die sich aus dem Nichts bilden und nach verrichtetem Dienst wieder im nichts verschwinden.
